Marco's Evening Report

Tuesday, September 15, 2026 · 6:00 PM

Tonight: OFF · but you're on a 6 AM day shift tomorrow

You're nominally on night 2 of seven nights off — except a 12-hour day shift got added to tomorrow (6 AM–6 PM, Plant City), and that rewrites tonight. Basic Woodshop Safety still runs 7–9 PM in Tampa, which puts you leaving the space at 9 PM with an alarm set for roughly 4. The one thing not to forget: fantasy waivers clear at 3 AM tonight — bids have to be in before you sleep, not tomorrow, and you still have no backup quarterback.

Tonight & Tomorrow

Tonight — Tuesday, Sep 15 · no night shift

6:00 PMHavana's Preply session with Joan Sebastian, 6:00–6:50 PM — hers, not yours.
7:00 PMBasic Woodshop Safety — Tampa Hackerspace, 4931 W Nassau St. Runs to 9 PM. Closed-toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing and dust protection.
The squeeze: class ends at 9 PM in Tampa and you're due at South Florida Baptist in Plant City at 6 AM. Plant City is about 35 minutes from the space; Cape Coral is better than two hours. If you drive home tonight you're looking at four hours of sleep before a twelve-hour day. Worth deciding before you leave whether you're staying east.

No wrestling tonight. Nothing else on the calendar.

Tomorrow — Wednesday, Sep 16

3:00 AMFantasy waivers process. Automatic — you don't need to be awake, but the bids do.
6 AM–6 PMACH Day Shift — South Florida Baptist Hospital, 1900 James L Redman Pkwy, Plant City. Added to the calendar at 4:40 this afternoon, outside the 7-on/7-off night block.
7:00 PM3D Printing: Models and Slicers — Tampa Hackerspace, online, already registered. Runs to 9 PM.
One hour between them. You clock out at 6 PM in Plant City and the slicer class starts at 7. It's online, so there's no drive — but you'd be joining from the parking lot or the car. It's a recorded-format class in practice; if the shift runs long, don't fight it.

Your own note on the day shift: extra shift beyond the 182/yr night commitment — confirm whether it pays the $1,800 extra-shift rate or a day rate. Worth asking the scheduler before you work it, not after.

Hackerspace

Slack unavailable tonight. The garage browser is connected and Sleeper on the same machine worked fine, but Slack was blocked before any page loaded — second night running, so it's Slack specifically, not the browser. This section is calendar-only. Anything addressed to you in #meetup-announce, your shop channels, or your Activity feed since Sunday is still sitting there unread.

Basic Woodshop Safety — tonight, 7 PM (day-of)

Tampa Hackerspace, 4931 W Nassau St, runs to 9 PM. This is the gate on the entire woodshop, so of everything on the calendar this week it unblocks the most.

From your own notes: laminate, foil backing, metallic paint and black melamine can trip the SawStop brake. Track saw for laminate-faced panels — which is exactly what the slide-out kitchen is made of.

3D Printing: Models and Slicers — tomorrow, Wed Sep 16, 7 PM (1-day)

Online, no travel, already registered. See the day-shift conflict above.

3D Printer Orientation — Thu Sep 17, 7–9 PM

In person at the space, two days out. This is the one that needs a drive this week — Wednesday's is online.

Shapeoko Sign-Off — Sat Sep 19, 10 AM–12 PM (3-day reminder)

The CNC sign-off, four days out. Direct unlock for cutting the aluminum slide-out kitchen parts for the Four Winds. Of the week's four sessions this is the payoff one.

Intro to the Babylock Embroidery Machine — Sun Sep 20, 5–7 PM

New on the calendar as of this afternoon — member ticket, free, confirmed. Sewing room through the orange door. Last free evening before the night block starts Monday.

Four sessions and a sign-off in six days, with one day shift wedged into the middle of it. That's still the densest hackerspace week you've had.

Ring Report

AEW All Out: Chicago — Sat Sep 26, 8:00 PM ET · 11 days out

NOW Arena, Hoffman Estates, IL. PPV; HBO Max for US subscribers, also Prime Video and PPV.com.

Announced so far: Will Ospreay defending the AEW World Championship against Jon Moxley, who holds the Continental title — title-vs-title framing. Adam Copeland & Christian Cage vs FTR vs The Young Bucks, TLC rules, for the tag titles. Jamie Hayter & Alex Windsor vs Megan Bayne & Lena Kross, Chicago street fight, women's tag titles. Nothing new added since last night's Dynamite — rest of the card still TBA.

You're on shift that night, night 6 of 7, 6 PM to 6 AM. Bell is 8 PM. Plan on the replay.

All Out 2026 — card

Nothing else inside 14 days. Triplemanía 34 is done (Night 2 replay still free on YouTube whenever you want it). WWE Money in the Bank is Oct 10 in New Orleans, 7 PM ET, card TBA.

RV

The maintenance log is still empty

Every row in the intervals table has a blank "Last done," and the header has no odometer or generator hours, so nothing can be computed as due or overdue. Ten minutes with the rig and the file turns this section on permanently: year/make/model, current odometer, generator hours, and dates for whatever you last actually did.

Generator work from Sep 8 — still unlogged, one week on

Carburetor replacement, fuel injector swap, oil and filter change were on the calendar for Tuesday Sep 8, 10 AM–1 PM. Nothing has been written to rv-maintenance.md since. If you did it, that single entry — date, generator hours, parts, cost — starts the clock on both the 100-hour/12-month generator oil interval and the 30-day generator exercise.

Tropics — nothing to prep for

The Hurricane Center has one area of interest: a broad, disorganized cluster of showers less than 1,000 miles east-southeast of Bermuda, now a medium chance of development over seven days. Shear is still shredding it, but conditions improve late this week — if it gets going it would be Tropical Storm Fay. It's tracking west-northwest over open ocean and is expected to get picked up by a front and turned out to sea. Nothing in the Gulf or the Caribbean. Below the threshold for a storm-prep item.

Training

No training on the calendar this week.

Fantasy Football

Week 2 — LordHaveMRSA vs Team chaseelson30 (both 0-1)

Projected 107.80 to 104.86, Sleeper gives you 53%. The most winnable-looking matchup you'll get for a while.

Lineup: clean

No starter is out, doubtful, questionable or inactive, and nobody is on a bye — byes start Week 5. One timing note: D. Moore locks Thursday 8:15 PM (BUF vs DET) while you're at the 3D printer class. Everyone else goes Sunday or Monday night.

Waivers — tonight, clearing 3:00 AM Wednesday

Full $100 FAAB, waiver priority 9. You were off all week and this was supposed to be the first waiver run you'd be awake for — the 6 AM day shift just took that back. Get the bids in before you sleep.

You still have no backup quarterback. Maye threw three interceptions in Week 1 and his bye is Week 11. Confirmed unrostered on the players page tonight, with Week 2 projections:

Any of them ends the problem for a throwaway bid. If you want a second claim, Cooper Kupp (SEA) and Hunter Henry (TE, NE, proj 10) are both sitting in free agency and both beat what's on your bench.

League note: you were named best manager of Week 1 — 99% of your optimal lineup (108.62 of a possible 109.52). You lost anyway. That's the league.

Medicine Desk

A fourth measles death in Pennsylvania — and two of the four were adults

What happened: An unvaccinated 18-year-old in Mifflin County died of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, a rare brain-and-spinal-cord inflammation that follows measles; a 40-year-old woman in Jefferson County died of measles complications on Saturday, and two infants died last month.

Why it matters to you: Pennsylvania is far away, but the pattern isn't — this is the worst US measles year since 1991, adults are dying, and the presentation that walks into an ED at 2 AM is fever and a rash in someone nobody thought to ask about vaccination.

Do this: On any febrile rash in an adult, put them in airborne isolation before you finish the history rather than after, and ask the vaccination question out loud.

Medicare is adding heart failure and COPD to its chronic-care technology program

What happened: Regulators announced today that the ACCESS model — which pays approved companies to manage chronic conditions and pays them more when patients actually improve — is expanding beyond diabetes, blood pressure, pain, depression and anxiety to include heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, substance use disorder and tobacco use. The new tracks start in spring 2027, and about three in four people on Medicare will be eligible for one. A directory of the 39 companies approved to treat under it was released at the same time.

Why it matters to you: Heart failure and COPD are most of your bounce-backs. Within about eighteen months some of the people you discharge at 4 AM will have a paid outside company responsible for managing them at home — which is either a real discharge resource or one more entity the patient thinks is their doctor.

Do this: Nothing tonight. Worth knowing the name "ACCESS" when case management starts using it.

STAT, Sep 15 (subscriber)

Nothing else since last night's report changes how you admit, treat or discharge an older patient. No new inpatient guidelines, no relevant FDA approvals, no new drug-shortage notices.

The Debate

Florida won a law expanding children's health coverage three years ago and still hasn't implemented it. Should the state drop the lawsuit?

Why it's live: At Friday's Joint Legislative Budget Commission meeting — reported Monday — a bipartisan pair of state senators pressed the Agency for Health Care Administration on when, or whether, it will expand Florida KidCare eligibility from 200% to 300% of the federal poverty level, the change the Legislature passed unanimously in 2023 (roughly $66,000 to $99,000 for a family of four). The hold-up is the state's fight with the federal government over a rule requiring that children stay continuously eligible for a year, which blocks Florida from dropping kids for unpaid premiums. Florida has now filed at least three suits; one is still pending in the Northern District in Pensacola. More than 43,000 children were removed over twelve months for missed premiums.

Keep fighting

The state's position, argued through its filings and by AHCA at the hearing, is that a premium is a condition of enrollment and that a federal rule forbidding removal for nonpayment rewrites a state-administered program from Washington. Deputy secretary Jon Manalo declined to give a timeline, citing the live case.

"We're working through that process as much as we can and working with the attorneys to resolve this case." — Jon Manalo, AHCA

Drop it and implement

Senate Democratic Leader Lori Berman and Republican Sen. Gayle Harrell of Stuart both pushed — Harrell noting it has been more than three years since the Legislature signed off. Republican Don Gaetz said last month the next governor should look hard at the challenge and consider dropping it. The law was championed by former Republican House Speaker Paul Renner and passed without opposition.

"There's too much uncertainty regarding what we are doing. There's a lot of unanswered questions." — Sen. Lori Berman

Where it lands: The unusual feature here is that the disagreement isn't really partisan — the expansion passed unanimously and the sharpest questions Friday came from a Republican. What's actually contested is whether a state can litigate a program into suspended animation for three years while the coverage the Legislature voted for doesn't exist. The fight over premium-based disenrollment is a real federalism question. The three-year delay is a separate question the state hasn't answered.

Gulf — the Hormuz talks didn't just slip, Saudi Arabia pulled them. Update to last night: Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Saudi Arabia "demanded" the Iran–Gulf meeting be postponed, and added that Iran's separate agreement with Oman on the Strait of Hormuz is finalized and will be announced later. The same day the Houthis fired dozens of missiles and drones at the King Khalid air base at Khamis Mushait in southern Saudi Arabia — hangars, radar, runways, ammunition depots — with 13 civilians injured, and Saudi Arabia promised to respond "firmly." Two regional officials said the East-West Saudi oil pipeline will be mostly out of service for three to five weeks. Al Jazeera · Reuters

Puerto Rico. A vigorous tropical wave reached the island this afternoon and keeps the rain going at least through Friday — mornings over the east, the metro and the north, afternoons shifting west. Elevated flood risk Wednesday and Thursday in poor-drainage areas, but no island-wide flooding expected, and the rain is needed in some towns. El Nuevo Día

Cuba. Nothing new from the mainstream outlets since the grid items you've already read. The blackout numbers circulating today are from Cuban-diaspora sites outside your source list and repeat figures from last week.

Screens. Nothing new worth queuing tonight. Slow Horses season 6 lands on Apple TV tomorrow, as flagged Sunday.
