Update: Iran war hits its 10th night — Tehran strikes Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan; two tankers ablaze in Hormuz
The US ran a tenth consecutive night of strikes across Iran, and Tehran widened its retaliation well beyond the battlefield: the IRGC says it hit US assets in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait, and two tankers are burning in the Strait of Hormuz. The fight remains anchored on control of Hormuz — roughly a fifth of global energy exports moved through it before the war — with Trump pushing to force prices down ahead of the midterms and Iran insisting shipping hug its coastline. Tehran continues to call the June memorandum void and says it's in an "existential war."
Why it matters to you: The oil shock is no longer abstract. A sustained squeeze on Hormuz feeds hospital operating costs and raises real risk of generic-injectable and IV-fluid supply pressure, since much of that API/finished-drug supply chain runs through the region. Rising pump prices also quietly pressure commute costs and overtime economics on a nocturnist rota.
Watch: keep an eye out for pharmacy or supply-chain memos on shortages or substitutions over the coming weeks — better to flag proactively at a group huddle than get surprised mid-shift. Al Jazeera live (Jul 21)
