What happened: Pennsylvania has confirmed four measles cases in people who had both shots — so-called breakthrough infections — alongside a fourth death in the outbreak this week.
Why it matters to you: A documented childhood vaccination no longer closes the door on measles in an adult who shows up overnight with fever and a rash, and this outbreak has skewed toward adults, not kids.
Do this: If the story fits — fever, cough, red eyes, rash spreading down from the face — mask and isolate on arrival and call it in, before you finish the history. Waiting for the vaccination record to come back is how an ED waiting room gets exposed.

Why it's live: Late Tuesday the House passed a war powers resolution 220–204 — the third time it has done so, but with seven Republicans crossing over instead of four. The same day, the Congressional Budget Office put the six-month war's cost at $38 billion, rising about $3 billion a month, and projected it will add half a percentage point to inflation in early 2027. The Fed raised rates again this afternoon, citing elevated inflation. Congress leaves at the end of the week to campaign; this was almost certainly the last House vote on the war before the midterms.

His argument: the resolution is a demand to withdraw assets without saying which ones, from a region where the threat hasn't gone anywhere. Ending the fighting on a congressional clock, on this reading, is what produces the next war rather than preventing it.

Where it lands: Nowhere, procedurally. None of the three House resolutions has reached the president's desk, and he would veto it. The Senate passed one on its tenth try, then reversed itself the next day. What's actually moving is the Republican count — four, then seven — with fewer than fifty days to an election in which most Americans tell pollsters the war hasn't been worth fighting. The vote is a thermometer, not a lever.
